Water is clear and shoreline packed with baitfish. Was stripping booby/streamer with full sink 5 and had steady pick. Got 11. Pulled the hook on 4 others. No big fish, biggest was 7-8 lbs.

Sounds like a great day.
In the 1970s people thought November was the start of the shore fishing at Pyramid Lake in Nevada.
No ladders yet......just old style waders and long underwear.
Most fly fishers used their salmon, striper, steelhead outfits............9' #9 line 2 piece tubular hollow fiberglass fly rods.
Some big old matching fly reel......Pflueger Medalist 1995 1/2 with a bunch of 20# braided Darcon backing to fill it up.
For shooting / running lines you saw many different nylon monofilament lines........100' of 20 to 30# test.
Most used 25' of level leadcore line for the fly line shooting head. Heavy Dacon loops were "whipped" on both ends.
Most use short heavy, hand tied leaders.......10# test Maxima monofilament.
Fishing two flies was very popular...........a large bushy dark (black) #2/4 Woolly Worm "chasing" a small light colored (white)#6 Woolly
worm. All were unweighted flies and the bend of the hook became polished from dragging in the sand.
November through March was the timing back them but later spring became very popular.
Fishing during a storm was usually very productive.
The Cutthroat trout back then did not seem to get over 20# much.
Many of the old fly fishing clubs had annual outings there in the winter.
My brother Dick and I would go on the annual California Fly Fishers Unlimited outings.
Old Joe Shirshac parked his travel trailer right on the beach and had coffee and chili beans for all.
Today with the "old Lahontan strain" found and put in the lake, fish over 30#s will or are possible.
The old strain was recorded to be 40 to 60 pounds, back in the day and fished commercially in Pyramid and Tahoe.
