Hi,
For tying midges will the fly "perform" different if I use a regular bead instead of a tungsten bead?
Thanks,
Tim

Nope. What will effect its performance is the use of a loop knot.
What loop would you recommend? I've been trying to add to my repertoire of knots. I've been trying the Duncan and Non-slip Mono Loops. Also the Harvey Dry Fly Knot. Seems though at last light when the actions hot and I just broke off a fly or they're just starting to hit dries and I'm frantically trying to change flies I have to revert to the Improved Clinch knot.
Its just a familiarity issue. You can tie a clinch knot in the dark because its so familar. Spend a whole season tying a different knot and youll be able to tie it with your eyes closed too.
A kreh loop is what I use. Its easy and strong.

Tungsten can be nice when you have really rough water, like nymphing at Pyramid, usually brass is sufficient.
