    Default Cool Article

Hey Bill, great article. I use the TFO mini mag all the time offshore both the 8wt and the 10 wt. I tried the 8wt model out on some nice sized ahi in kona a couple of months ago and it did well on fish to 30lbs. I think the 8ft models are good around the boat, and they do make it easier to land fish. I think all fly guys should hand line in the ahi when it gets to the boat and the fisherman should keep the rod in their hands in case the tuna decides to make one more run for the bottom. I find if you keep the head comming up and don't freak out the fish they are much easier to land. Thanks for the article, Don.

I've been using the mini mag most of the trip. It can slow down a toro (after the first big run). I landed a 23lb toro with the mini mag and now we're looking for the dorado. I'm going to pick up a couple more mini's. I throwing the Sage Bass line on the rod and also the RIO OBS 9wt Floating and Int.
