Does anyone know if Deer Creek is fishable this time of year? I am think of going this weekend and don't want to show up to a blown-out stream.

Bill, I fished Deer Creek last Sunday in the state refuge area. The water was high but clear with temps in the mid to upper 40's. The fish were active on the surface with a light but constant mayfly and caddis action. Suddenly, around 2 PM the air temp dropped dramatically and was followed by fifteen minutes of heavy pea sized hail then a light but very cold rain for another fifteen minutes. We fished from 10 to 2 and landed approximately 30 fish from 4 to 12 inches.

The water was very fishable you just couldn't cross in just any place like you can during the normal later months. We fished dries the entire time and had fun fishing, just couldn't bop around like usual.
