    Default Truckee Report

I headed up yesterday afternoon to give the Truckee a try. I was able to fish for about 4 hours from Floriston to about a mile upstream. The fishing was slow. But, I am also an amateur who has only fished the river a couple of times before. I tried everything in my fly box but the only action I could get was on stoneflies. I caught on small rainbow about 11 inches long and then hooked into a much larger rainbow but lost him as I was attempting to net him. I sure would have loved to get a picture of that fish. It was between 22" and 24" and really colorful. Im sure that the more experienced fly fisherman would have done better than I did.

I like to fish the Truckee River from mid-June through July.

It has some really big Rainbows and Browns.
