The Baja Bite
Down in the La Ventana area, the bite has already started and getting better. There have been a lot of 30 to 50 roosters already caught and a few roosters pushing the 80lb weight. One of your local fisherman was just down there and is now back home. He boated and 80+ rooster on Friday, the biggest he's caught since he's been going to Baja. Caught it casting a fly and not trolling. There are a number of trollers hooking up on some 80lber's, also. One thing I hate to see is taking these big roosters out of the water for a photo opt. But as long as you take your time to revive them and they swim away on their own, that's fine
This same fisherman also caught a PB, Toro or Jack Cravelle durin the week. It weighed in at 33lb. (yes he does carry a boga grip) Now that's a real ass kicker. Also in the bite are trevally, dorado, a few wahoo, snappers
Can't wait to get down there, two more weeks. Lot's of big bait.
I would love to see the marlin and yellow fin make an appearance.
Been selling a lot of Cam Sigler Poppers, lately for both Baja and Costa Rica
After 30 years of hosting trips to baja, this will be my final year. It's been a great run but there's gotta be a time call it "quits"
