John Shewey’s new book, Spey Flies, Their History and Construction is an excellent read for those interested in the origin and evolution of these classic flies. The book has 14 chapters and includes new information on the history of old Spey flies and “Modern” examples. Chapters also provide a historical perspective of several early tyers and anglers. In characteristic Shewey style, several chapters are devoted to materials, tying and contemporary “Spey-style” flies. Hardback, 270 pages, printed in China, retail $40.00.
