Default GBF One Fly Fish-out, Rancho Seco

Yesterday, Granite Bay Fly Casters held their annual One Fly Competition at Ranch Seco Lake. You were allowed only one fly, or your choice. If you lost your fly, you were done. A good time for sure.
Among the many Red Ear, Blue Gill and Bass that were caught, there was a 4# Rainbow netted. A great BBQ followed the competition. Good times! For stillwater this is a decent fishery with nice facilities. A warm water shallow lake that offers good float tubing close to Sacramento.
"The solution to any problem -work, love, money, whatever -is to go fly fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be." -John Gierach

The bluegill are on an absolute tear! They're a little deeper than you'd think, but when you find them it's really good. Caught an 11" and thought what a pig, the next one was a 12!!
Cloudy and rainy all day, perfect.

Your right James the sun fish were a little deeper for me yesterday too, after losing my black wiggle tail i put a small popcorn beetle on a heavy sink line, and caught some fine red ears and bluegill.
