Hi I'm brand new to this forum, and I am looking to find some high lakes with good size brook trout that I can hike too. If anyone has any recommendations that would be awesome! Thanks

I've never fished there before, but Kirman Lake near Sonora Pass off Highway 108 is known as an excellent brook trout fishery. It's roughly a 3 mile hike in from the parking area I understand, and best fished from a float tube. Some others on the forum may have some real experience with the lake. There are some video's on U-Tube that will give you an idea as well. Good luck.

Watch for rattlesnakes.
Okay cool I'll check it out thanks Tom for the advice.
Options...
Red Lake has an abundance of Brookies and you can land your fair share if you fish the inlet, opposite end from the dam. A short hike from the parking lot will reward you with many hungry Brookies, eager to slam your fly.
I fish Kirman this time of year, however after Labor Day offers the best time to land trophy brookies. Full of color and gorging on scuds, these little footballs will put your 4wt to the test. It's not very often you can land a 4 - 5 lb brookie in the lower 48. Bring a float tube and insect repellent. Do watch for rattlesnakes.
I am heading up there next week and will have an updated report. Drop by the shop and we'll help you select the right flies for your trip.

many of the lakes in the Trinity and Marble Mountain Wilderness are stocked - though not necessarily with "big" Brookies. I have some old published maps that describe fishing options and you can likely find books on line about hiking these areas. Gorgeous country!!!!Been hiking them since the late 60s
Kirman Lake is noted for large Brookies.
Call the shop today and ask for Andy.....he knows that lake well.
