Default My Best Bass on a Fly

Caught my personal best bass on a fly on Sunday. I was float tubing in the Delta using my 4 wt rod and a size 10 rubber legs panfish fly. I don't have a scale in my tube, and the fish was longer than the 18" ruler on my tube, so estimating/eyeballing the length at 21" on-line charts suggest the weight was about 5.5 lbs. Great fish, I had a ball with it on the light rod.

    Well it wasn't a topwater fly, here's a description:

    #10 3XL Nymph/Streamer hook
    Medium bead chain eyes
Small black chenille body (sometimes weave a little yellow in too)
    Yellow Marabou tail
A pair of rubber legs tied in on each side a little behind the eyes (white and/or yellow)
