That's a caddis. With the record warm temps this year the insect hatches have been very early. Today in Reno it will be a record 71º! This is the warmest winter on record since 1961. Chironomids, mayflies, caddis, and even damsels nymphs are getting active. At our clinic last weekend a damsel nymph got caught up in my net while netting a trout. We have been seeing fish surfacing throughout the day especially on the overcast days. Today (Wednesday) it is overcast and warm. Thanks for the post, Doug O.
Thanks Doug......i through it looked like a caddis, but didn't know for sure.
