    Default Fall Brown Trout

After 5 days of a full house for Thanksgiving, I was able to get out and fish Lake Siskiyou for a couple of hours before driving home on Monday night. Lake conditions were calm, heavy overcast, occasional misty rain showers. I saw some fish working an area that had a steep bank, but found a nice rock to stand on that allowed me to cast. Started out with an olive UV wiggle tail on my intermediate line, 3rd cast and I'm hooked up to a nice 16"brown which inhaled the wiggle tail deep. I cut the line and let him go. ( forgot my forceps). In the next 2 hours, I landed 9 Browns, had 6 ldr's, and many short grabs, and a couple of fish I caught after the grab and just paused the retrieve and several came back for a second smack. Three times while hooked up I had another large fish following the one I was fighting. One of the following fish was an easy 7-8 lb fish. A few cast after landing a 20"+ brown, I had a big grab that bent my 6 wt Z Axis in half, never saw that one, after a minute of deep runs, the hook released and I never got to see him. The last two fish were around 21-24" with attitude. This was a magical 2 hours of fishing. Got a few pics that were taken quickly, hope you enjoy them. Don't let winter stop you from enjoying some winter fishing, just drop down in elevation. The fish still gotta eat!
