Default Building small summer time rock dams on small streams

Met a nice family on the 'Way Upper' McCloud that had been building a small rock dam (12") on the McCloud every year for almost 50 years. No place else up there did I see any fish activity and have heard before these little rock dams create good habitats for fish.

I'm thinking the mother has fallen to ill health and the family is no longer carrying on their tradition as me and my wife stopped in the camp ground this year to see them and they weren't there.

Thinking about carrying on the tradition with my own boys and planning an annual trip up there to rebuild the dam, enjoy a few days in an extremely unspoiled wilderness and of course do some fishing. Of course the Calif. Park Services tore down the signs off the highway to this unincorporated camp ground years ago and very few people actually know it exist.

Of course this location is centrally located within striking distance of the McCloud, Upper Sac, Pit, Hat Creek, and the Fall River
