    Default Klamath nymphing???

Yeah, it's gonna be probably 90% swinging, but there are a few spots, such as edges of rapids, etc. where an indicator might be a good idea.

I don't recall seeing many bugs in previous trips, maybe some mayflies, but nothing really noticeable. Don't recall ever turning over any rocks either.

So, if I was to throw on a bug......what should it be? Stones? Eggs? Big Copper John's?

    Thanks in advance.

By the way.....I'll be fishing up in the Orleans area Fri-Sun. Black X-Terra. Stop by and say hi. BUT DON'T LOW HOLE ME!!!!!

The Klamath River does not get much nymphing action because it is not normally necesary.

They do some nymphing at the mouth of colder tributaries in the day time when they can see fish holding there.

One fly that I saw the regulars using was a #6 brown stone nymph with gold bead head and rubbler legs.

Up river with lots of salmon spawning might be the place to do it with a nymph & egg combo.

Swing flies in the morning and evening then nymph in the mid-day.

Normally nymphing is not that necessary on the Klamath River except maybe above Interstate 5.

Nymphing for steelhead is popular when:

.....the water is under 40 degrees.

.....if you are in an area with lots of salmon spawning.

    .....mid-day with lots of sun.

....when the place has already been pounded.

....the river is full of hatchery fish.

Not necessarily all facts but that is kind of how I feel.
