Can anyone out there give me an informed opinion on the Thomas & Thomas Horizon 864-4?
I've heard it described varying anywhere from a club to medium fast with a delicate tip...

T&T makes wonderful fly rods but they are not popular on the west coast.
The Horizon is a faster model so I would use one of those floating lines that is a half size heavier like a SA/Mastery GPX or a Rio GrandMax in a WF4F.
It might be OK with a DT4F too.
I have not cast that rod but T&T might be at the San Mateo ISE show?

I have several T&T in the Horizon series although not the rod you mentioned. Both my rods are 9'; one is a two piece 8wt and the other a 4 piece 6 wt. I love both rods. They are a tad more stringent on returning rods due to damage but as far as performance I have been fishing them more than the rest of my rods over the past few years. They are a pretty stiff rod but that is fine given that I am typically tossing an indicator and shot with the 6 wt and big bugs with the 8wt. I will be a T&T customer for a long time.
