Default I caught the same trout again

If this photo looks familiar, it's because it's from a post I made about one month ago.

I caught this 23" rainbow on the Truckee while nymphing under and indicator one month ago. This last Friday evening, I went back to the same hole for the first time. While striping an Andy Burk streamer downstream I hooked another big trout. After landing the fish, I noticed the same small orange spot on the dorsal fin. It had to be the same fish.

Having caught the same fish, from the same hole, I started thinking about landing fish quickly. The first time I caught this fish I was using a 6 weight rod with 3x tippet. The second time I was using a 5 weight rod with 1x tippet. I was able to land the fish faster on the 5 weight. My theory is that using 1x tippet, I confidently applied more pressure even though I was using a lighter rod. Maybe tippet strength is more important than rod weight?

Id say yes....Your going to break your line before your rod in most cases.

That is too cool Craig. Guess his house is in that hole.

    That is one big rainbow!
