Default Carry on a net on a plane?

I am heading out to Reno in a couple of weeks and will have a few days to fish the North Tahoe area before I have to work. I figured out that I can pack everything in a carryon suitcase and a backpack but have questions about the net and rod tube. I'm know that I can get away with the rod tube strapped to the pack but wonder if the net clipped on is also OK. I worry that the combination will be too much. Any one have any experience traveling with gear without checking anything?

    Question Carry-on Luggage....

Hmmm,.... No experience with landing nets but have had no problem with rod tubes.... No room in the back pack Maybe you could stuff in the pack with the handle sticking out....
