    Question Yak'n Big Fish....

While that's a great adventure, 3 hours on any fish means my arms are fried and I'm headin' for a coronary.... I think I might've just let that Tuna just pull/troll me around 'til it was ready to say uncle.... I've had a Striped Marlin on for 1 1/2 hours (estimated at 125 lbs) and was completely worn out at the end....

Not sure I'd be interested in fishing in blue water with my feet hanging over the side and some very large sharks there, too....

Its my understanding that the longer the fight, the poorer the meat quality. Lactic acids can taint the meat?? I know landing a tuna quickly is an oxy moron, but doing it from a kayak is a......omni moron??

Attribution goes to Ken Hanley for providing the following words of wisdom, "When you're fishing in salt water, even on your best day, you're only about half-way up the food chain!"

Kayak guy is right down at the bottom of the Darwin scale with the Chesapeake Bay Striper fishermen who swim in wetsuits and think that fighting fish (rod and reel) while in the water is great sport...but then, think of the estate sale possibilities!

4 1/2 hr fight? Not trying to be a killjoy here, but a 300lb marlin could eat that fish in one gulp.

I have seen these guys out in the GOC "fishing" from kayaks. Most of the time they snooze while trolling by being towed from a powerboat. What is the point? It's all about fighting the fish from the kayak? The only greater challenge this presents is for the fish to survive if it is released...or after the angler loses the fish in a failed gaffing attempt (could have easily happened in that first video above).

Somebody should just tell these guys to buy some Viagra and hair plugs and save their money instead of getting towed around in kayaks to feel like more of a man.

"I could not have personally landed that fish" <--- Understatement of the year.

What thell would he have done if the gaff had held the first time?? No WAY he would have been able to do anything with it...woulda been like a remake of Old Man and the Sea.

check this out. The Lane kids sail kayaks from Long Beach to Catalina, fish from them as well as SUPS.....click on Stand Up Paddle Boards, you'll see a photo with a landed thresher shark from a SUP...
