Got the call from Gene that Davis is going off the hook, so I decided to head down Friday after work to meet Gene who was kind enough to stay one more day so he could help me on the lake. Needless to say Gene has a good bottle of bourbon coming for waiting for me one more night, he had been camping all week and was ready to go home but he stayed another night for me, thanks much Gene.

On to the report, all I can say is WOW!!!!! I had been to Davis once before but only to have my butt handed to me by those fish. But different day and different story. When Gene told me we would be fishing in water from 6" to 2' I was a little skeptical, but once I saw the fish rising I knew it was game on. At first I missed about 7 or 8 hits and started to get worried, but a change of flies and tactics and I had my first Davis rainbow, a beauty pushing 20". The say continued on like that with fish here and fish there and fish everywhere. I had a couple 3 fish for 3 casts and even a 5 fish for 5 casts. The smallest fish was 17" which I am still having a hard time believing myself. the average fish was around 19" - 21". I had a fish over 25" but my net was not big enough and after hitting it in the nose 2 times the 3rd time popped the fly right out of his lip, that happened twice with a fish over 25". I know understand the love for this lake and I too have been bitten by that love. I can not wait for next spring to go again.

On with the pics.

My first Lake Davis rainbow

One of the smaller fish only 17"

Chunky monkey

Hey David, this little snake kept trying to chase me down, he was cute especially when it played possum. Anyone know what kind it is?

Beautiful colors

Gotta love those big spots

All in all one of the best days ever on the water.
