Default New shorter fly rods for tournament bass fishing

Sage, Scott, G.Loomis and TFO all have new shorter fly rods for bass tournaments. They have to be under 8 feet long to be legal. These will be used in tight mangrove salt water fisheries as well.

    TFO 'TiCrX' 7'6" #6 - 4 pc @ $249

    TFO 'TiCrX' 7'6" #8 - 4 pc @ $249

    Scott 'Backcountry Special' 7'7" #9 - 3 pc @ $625

    G.Loomis "Cross Current' 8' #9 - 3 pc @ $350

I don't think Sage has released theirs as of yet.

    Default Rods

    Bill
I built two 7'6" rods this year,A fast one and a slower one. Both 4 wts.
They take a little getting used to.They have a very different feel.
It is important to get a full extension on the back cast and a good hard stop on the forward cast to get good results. Maybe not so bad with small flies, but I throw bass bugs with them. I also up line them by one. They are fun in tight areas and small creeks.

I think those shorter (under 9 foot) rods are more accurate too.
