Very nice Scott, definitely buggy looking!

Well, my flies are in the mail. I guess that entitles me to ask, where are we on this swap? Hopefully, I'm not the last one to get 'em in. . . .

    Hey H.S-

We are slowly gathering. I have Chris' Vitamin D's- nice. And am expecting more tonight in the mail.
As soon as I get them all, I'll send them back around.
Recently got a new camera so I'll post them all online.

    Default Steelhead fly swap

Hairstacker, got your Juicy Bugs yesterday, very juicy
As usual, perfectly tied, very impressive. I am gaining more enthusiasm all the time for traditional patterns.

    Chris, the Vitamin-D's are awesome
Really nice twist on a great fly. I have already tied up some of my own due to your inspiration.
What is the material on the bottom thorax though??

Looking like I should get them all pretty quick here.

Scott, thanks for the very kind comments -- I'm just happy if I don't embarrass myself.

Thanks for the kind words slage. The thorax is red ice dub. I don't remember the exact name for the color but I want to say its the UV red one. I don't have my fly tying materials with me or I'd check.

When tying that fly I just try to find the gawdiest and flashiest things to put on the fly. With steelhead it seems the gawdier the better. The original Vitamin D was too boring for me so I added some new stuff. It is one ugly fly but it works. Can't complain about that!

    Chris- nice! Thanks
David- Awesome fly, it looks like the new Assasin. Really like the wood duck? hackle(ish) stuff.
I can see this fly making it into my normal rotation.

I will post pictures tonight of the flies in hand.

Ooops , one more thing -

I think this bug fishes best from August thru October , then again after the last of February . The reason being is .... it looks a lot like a Caddis , and fishes best before the Kings drop eggs .

By the way , Kings will hammer this fly , you won't be able to keep them off of it . Make sure to bring some extras ....
