HIt the A this evening. 4 dinks to hand and a squawfish I think... lost it before I got to see it but it had a brown/bronze color. Missed one nice fish that exploded on the fly first cast into a riffle but it struck so hard it kidn of jumped on the fly sideways so I only felt it for a second on the hook set and then it was gone... but it a nice football shaped steelie about 15-16" probably..

Saw a few fish rising so it's getting there....

The river is down to 1940 today which is really great for wade fishing.

We have not had a report of a good Halfpounder catch as of yet this Fall.

I think we need to get out there now that the flow is down.

Hi Bill,

I think the river has changed a lot in subtle ways also so perhaps a little more exporation is necessary to find them. I know my area has changed a lot and I think the best spots that used to hold tons of fish aren't as attractive to the fish anymore. I remember two years ago the spot right down stream from my favorite run last year was holding 30-40 fish (actively feeding in the evening) and it was a nice run with a long slow pool. Now, after two high water years the run is gone and I haven't seen a fish rise there yet...

At the same time though... the riffle I fished yesteray was non-existent but I brought 4 fish up from there but didn't hook any (3 dinks and the one nice fish) and there were some other fish rising above it as well (not sure how big, but I missed one and it was probably 12" or so)
