    Default Middle Rogue Steelhead

    [img][/img]

Almost time to start in the Grants Pass area for summer/fall steelhead. Over 5,700 fish are over Gold Ray Dam headed for the cooler waters in the Shady Cove area. Flows in the Grants Pass area are 1,600 cfs and 64 degree temperature. Although I have taken summer fish as early as 14 Aug now wait to start until 1 Sep. which is about the time the fall chinook reach the Grants Pass area. The fish pictured was taken a couple seasons ago.

In another steelhead topic talks about looking for the ultimate steelhead trip. Guess my advice would be to save your money when you are young and then retiire to the banks of a good steelhead stream where you can fish upwards of 120 days a year without leaving your driveway
