Default Good size Steelhead in the lower American river

Andy said that a customer has been catching some larger 4 to 6 pound fresh Steelhead in the river while drifting and casting a fast sinking line with a small streamer for Stripers.

    We hear this every year.

Andy was getting some larger fish that were this size last year about the first of September.

    Time to go............

PS: you need to fish deeper for these larger fish.

Either use a very long leader (12-15' to 2x)with a larger bead head caddis.

Or a sinktip with a shorter leader(6' to 2x) and a larger #8/10 BH caddis or an olive or black leech/streamer.

Or 'deep indicator/nymph' them with a couple of caddis nymphs.
