I can't believe it.....we received 4 of the new Z-AXIS Sage rods today.

Incredible ROD. I fished with one the other day. I never thought they could out do the XP...they did.

    I cast the 590, 690 and 79?
I want to fish with one before I trade in my XP, but they cast really nice and very smooth. They have a little less pop then the XP but still seem to have the power behind them. They're a lot like the TXL rods and the same technology.

I have the 590 and took it out for a test run last week up in the Eastern Sierras. Wow! It is a smooth casting rod with a lot of power behind it. I put a lot of fish on it in various situations and it performed very well. I love my 590 XP but the Z to me is an improvement.

    Say Hey G,
Somehow I knew you'd end up with a "Z" 590. I have their 7-weight. Excellent feel. I'll be putting it through the field tests pretty hard this year.
    Cheers, Ken
Love the challenge...What try? No try. Just do!

Yeah, it's sweet stick and is perfect for those Crowley 'bows. I'll be interested in your field tests results with the 790 "Z". I might have to get one of those for our So. Cal. inshore species although it will probably be awhile before Lori lets me get another one . I had to sell off a few pieces of the collection just to get the 590. =)

I fished the Yuba this past Saturday in what felt like a Tornado! It was the windiest I have seen out there, but i was fishing with the 590 and I was still able to throw a pretty big bug far with nice tight loops. I love the XP because it's a bit of a stick. The Z seems to have the same bennefit of the XP but is more smooth.

    Grrrrreat Rods!!

Our Sage Rep, Jamie Lyle, came by this week and we cast more of those Z-Axis rods.

The 10 weight was very exciting. I could throw more consistently with that than any other 10 weight I have owned. Perfect for Trevally, Tarpon, Dorado and King Salmon.

In the 9' #5 size we cast it side by side with the 'old' XP model. The new Z is more refined with a smoother feel and a high line speed due to the build design and materials used. It is definitely the finest 5 weight trout rod out there today.

I am taking a 9'6" #6 to the Klamath this week.
