    Default American River pics needed

    Fishing photographers,
I'm updating a presentation I do for teachers and students in the Sacramento area who are raising salmon and steelhead in their classrooms. The project is sposored by local fly clubs and DFG. Students prepare a chilled aquarium in class, observe the eggs hatch, and monitor the development of the fry. They then release the young salmon in the American River.

I'd like a few more pics of the American River. Photos showing insects, wildlife, salmon and steelhead, fishing, releasing fish, and capturing the beauty of the river would be appreciated. Photo credit will be given.

Feel free to post here, but I won't use any from the Kiene's board unless I get permission from the photographer.

    Thank you for your help.

Here are a few pics of the river around Goethe Park and a close up of a steelhead.

    Default American River deer

I took this shot during very high water (could be winter of 1990). This deer had just swam ashore at Harrington Access...people gathered there to look at the high water started to go in the direction of the deer as it was coming out the water...the buck said no way and immediately took off on the other direction. Note the top of the levee in the background...

    Default Thank you!

    Don, Jason, Adam, Bill, Todd,
Thank you for posting some of your photos of the American River. I used several for the teacher workshop last weekend at the Nimbus Hatchery. One of the topics covered was the natural beauty and wildlife viewing potential in the heart of our metropolitan city. As fishers we certainly have a unique vantage point to enjoy the river. I appreciate you sharing your talents.
