One Last Question

One last question regarding my problem. I now have the computer up and running. But I did notice that everything (font, photo's, icon's) is sort of oblong. The Geek Squad guy told me to right click, go to properties and select system
Change the resolution size to somewhere around 1240x740.
So I've been playing around with that, but I'm still getting the long fonts, icons and photos. Could it be that I need to adjust the vertical on the monitor

Yes Jay, try the vertical on your screen. If the icon's etc are oddly shaped then it's probably a screen issue and not a resolution issue.
