Upper Sac, last week
Camped with a good friend last weekend on the Upper Sac. Set up camp on Friday with enough time to fish for a couple of hours.
Saturday was great, didn't see anyone the whole day and lots of food floating by. Big October caddis, tiny mayflies and lots of stonefly cases.
Camping with a cooler makes for a better breakfast than at home.
Sunday, before dragging ourselves out..
What a place, can't wait to next time.

Nice work, Slage. Looks like you guys had a good time. Any tips on flies that were working up there?

flies
Hey PM-
I would suspect a nice, big October Caddis. Large, 6-10's, with some hackle, something creeping out as legs. We saw tons of them, bigger than I remember too. Unfortunately, we didn't have any good imitations but I suspect a lot would work.
We had luck with 18's caddis pupa, tan/ brown. Extended chenille body.
Also, and have always had the most luck with really small, midges. 24's black with gold/ red rib and peacock.
Tried some dries and even streamers without any luck. Lots of really small mayflies, all lighter colored. Nothing huge on top.

Slage,
Thanks for the scoop. I'm heading up that way this weekend, and will post a report next week.
