    Default Yipee, first shad

After stumbling around learning the ropes, got into my first shad this morning. Fished Sailor Bar from ~6:30-8:00 with nothing, then landed 1/2 dozen in the next 40 minutes. A bunch of bumps also. What a blast! I was suprised the takes weren't hotter though. Probably had my luck today 'cuz I left the camera at home. And to add to the thrill, fished both a rod and chartreuse Wet Pinkies I built/tied myself! Next goal: winter run steelhead.

PS Thanks for the hints getting me into the fish.

    Default Yuba Shad Too

Fished the Yuba this morning for a couple of hours before going to work and was really surprized by the number of fish we saw.
Best bite was very early on chartruese anything. Didn't stay around for the evening bite but reports are that it's even better.

While drifting back downstream shad were visible everywhere in the clear water but didn't seem too grabby with the sun up. Saw several stripers mixed in with the shad too, hors d'oeuvres.
