    Default Flies for Caples....

Mario,.... I imagine that all of the usual suspects will work at Caples but there're a few things you should be aware of. First, at this time of year there're some big carnivores hungry/moving up there. Lake Trout and Browns to name a couple.

The lake has some forage fish and a very large popultion of Crayfish (olive colored). With that in mind, streamers and Olive Wooly buggers would be a couple of good choices. Mosquitoes/midges are likely to be out en masse and they would, also, be good choices.

For bait, if decide to go over to the dark side, I've used mini-crawlers on the bottom with success up there. Ho about some softshell crawdads, too

    Good luck

Thanks for the replies guys. I surely do not plan on even packing my conventional gear. I want to land some fish on flies up there! Ever fished Frog Lake? I hear there are some nice size brookies in there.
