    Default Hickory Shad

Got a call the other day from a friend of mine who's currently living in Virginia, not too far from D.C. He says he's already catching shad in the Potomac. They've had nice weather for awhile now on the east coast, the lucky dogs.
Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Jake: Hit it.

    Great ED,

They have the larger American or White Shad back there on the East Coast and they have the smaller Hickory Shad that they did not transplant here in the late 1800s along with the American Shad.

I did catch some American Shad in Florida in February a few years back on the Saint John's River near Orlando.

I still have to catch a little Hickory Shad back there some day.

I think a big Hickory is 3# where the American Shad record is over 10# on the East Coast.
