Fished around Gristmill from the boat on the 30th. Water was at 10k cfs, 2.5 feet of visibility and 50 degrees. Really thought I would find a striper or two but ended up with one 6lb squawfish (nice fight, ugly fish!). The wind reaked havoc on my casting and line control (upwind gusts don't mix well with down current). Seems like I was always tangled around something!
Saw J. Putnam giving a casting lesson, a couple of bankies, two other boats and that was it. The catching wasn't that great but it's just gorgeous out there on the water with no one around!
Tip of the day... be safe this weekend. Flow is scheduled to increase to 15k cfs on the 1st at 11am so plan accordingly.

fly: Very light artificial fly fishing lure of which there are two types: the dry fly which isn't supposed to sink the way it just did; and the wet fly, which shouldn't be floating up on the surface like that. An Angler's Dictionary.
