    Default Loon Lochsa reels

While Adam, Mike and I were at the San Rafael show I stopped by the Loon booth and had a look at their new reels. I've been a fan of their products for a while, and these reels actually looked pretty good. I think Kiene's carries a few Loon products, but I don't think they have the reels in stock. What do you guys think? Definitley good looking and light, with a sealed cork drag and a very competitive price...

    Gregg,

That is the same platform as the Orvis MA, Redington CD and many others. If you need one, we are Loon dealers.

    Default Same Manufacturer?

I thought I recognized the drag knob as being familiar.

Bill, it's interesting to me that so many brands of reels use as you say "the same platform". I guess everyone is trying to capture a bigger share of the market by keeping costs down.

Interesting thought too is that only minor differences seem to occur between these brands. I wonder if some drag mechanisms could be interchanged as well? Say changing from a glass/ceramic disc drag to a cork disc drag?

Probably wouldn't be worth the effort when you consider how inexpensive some of these reels are new.

    Tony,

If we wanted to order enough reels, we could have the "B&T Fly Reels".

"Bill &Tony Fly Reels...........it only takes money.

I did notice that Loon has theirs made in large sizes than most.

Lots of fly reel choices today.

I think that the G.Loomis looks better to me.
