    Default American River

I was out last Saturday with a few other spey guys at Sunrise. The river was really high, but there were fish around. I hooked up almost right way but the first lightning fast run broke 16lb tippet!! I did a lot more casting for the next fish which I did land. Was a 30 inch 8lb Steelie. Fought really well, but I slipped on a muddy bank and tweaked my back. After I landed that fish I gave my spot to another spey guy, and called it a day. My back is still really sore... I hope its better by this Saturday.

    Default Ouch!

I've had more sore backs from fishing than I care to remember.

I'm driving up from southern Arizona on Thursday, but I figured to bypass the American because it's just too darned high. I've fished it at 8000 cfs and that was tough.

I'm figuring to hit the coastals for about 8 days and then I'll see if the American is in better shape.

Just curious - did you cross to the island or is it too high to do so?

    Hope you feel better.

    Bruce
