    Hey Striper,
Here's an article from a not too long ago.
    http://www.flyfishinsalt.com/article.jsp?ID=38456

Its pretty simple, but finding the right materials is king.
Spin a section around the hook with a tight wrap to cause the hair to flair.
Pack and repeat. Cut to form with a razor blade and scissors.
I cut square and round the corners but am no deer hair expert.
Maybe the bass guys...usually the deer hair spinnin gurus can pipe in.
They spin hair on flies that are so perfect the fish can't resist em.

Another good description of how to spin deer hair can be found in the instructions for tying the "Al's Hopper" within the "Intermediate Tying" section at www.flyanglersonline.com.

Spinning Deer hair. I have a technique that probably most people who are spinning deer hair don't use. I make a deer hair dubbing brush using soft annealed stainless steel wire and deer hair. It's that same technique in making the llama hair brushes except using deer hair.
I also like the Jimmy Nix and Dave Whitlock VHS tapes on spinning deer hair and have watch Chris Helm spin and trim deer hair.

    OK Little Striper
Rescue is not too far from Granite Bay,so,Send me an e-mail and we can meet at my house sometime and you can spin and flier hair all you want.
No charge. We will call it the blind leading the blind.
I have to tell you though that I tie far less hair bugs than I used to.
WHY? Gurglers catch as many fish and are very quick to tie. I guess I am just getting lazy. I did tie 9 hair bugs tonight in small sizes for small mouth in the Spring.
