I am posting this for a friend:

"Bill:
I saw a post on your board asking about shad flies. I tried to post this info; but, have forgot my password. You might want to pass it along to your board members. I am reading a book by John McPhee titled "The Founding Fish." It is all about the American shad. McPhee is a staff writer for The New Yorker magazine and is one hell of a writer. Several weeks ago, the magazine had a two part series on coal trains written by McPhee. It is amazing the way he can pack so much information about a topic and keep you wanting to read more.

One can use this link to read a sample of his writing.
