    Default Feather or Lower Y?

Headed up from LA tommorrow to take a friend on his first steelhead trip. We are wondering if the lower Y or the Feather Low flow would be a better bet. Also flies and leaders you are running.

Long drive tomorrow in the Toyota.

    Thanks.

    Default Feather or Yuba???....

Gonna be rainy for a few days. If it's light rain, the lower Yuba would be a good bet but access is tough unless you're familiar with it. Also, the Feather above/below the afterbay outlet would be good.

If it's rained/raining steadily, the low flow section of the Feather would be best....

If you're passing thru Sacramento on your trip, it might pay to stop be Kiene's shop and get the latest info.... Maybe Tony Buzolich'll post some info as well....

Steelhead flies vary with the method used. If nymphing, a small egg pattern with a tandem of size 14, pheasant tail is a good choice. Maybe vary it with a Foix's Poopah or something similar....

If swinging flies, Coal Car, Green Butted Skunk or Silver Hiltons, Mossbacks, Articulated Leech, Starlight Leech, Egg Sucking Buggers, etc. (the usual suspects).

    Good Luck
