Davis Lake and Frenchman's
Davis fall fishing has finally started with lots of fish in the shallows feeding on snails and midges. Fish are feeding aggressively and average size is over 18 inches. Average anglers are hooking 3 to 5 fish a day or more and experienced Davis anglers are hooking double digit numbers. Snail patterns, midge larvae, midge emergers ( good during hatches the last few days), sheep creeks, prince nymphs, cinnamon wiggel tails or woolies, and general attractor patterns all seem to be working. Try fishing an intermediate line with a slow retrieve or hanging midge larvae under and indicator for best results. Water temps are still in the mid 50s. Best bets are Fairview and Mosquito areas, Freeman channel, Jenkins and almost all west side points. Frenchman's is RED HOT and anglers are catching lots of fish from 14 to 16 inches with a few going larger. Same patterns and strategies as Davis are working all day long. Frenchman's is the place to take new anglers or those who just need a great high number day to boost their ego. Fish the northwest side of the lake. don
