I am sure there are a few staglers around.

We usually get a report in September from up near the Nimbus Dam where someone dry fly fishing for Halfpounder Steelhead catches a Shad in the PM.

In the Spring, April, May, June and even July we will yearly have good numbers of American Shad making their spawning run up our Nor Cal rivers.

They were introduced here in 1877 from the East Coast on the US along with the Striped Bass.

Both have thrived here for many years now on the West Coast mostly from Monterey Bay north to the Columbia River in OR/WA.
