Nice Steelhead caught on Lower American River

Andy Guibord went out Friday (8/19) and drifted the upper river in a 16' jetboat.

They were throwing lead-core with a chartreuse and white Clouser Minnow for Stripers.

In one run they hooked 3 nice Steelhead and one was about 5 pounds.

I can tell you it was between the Sailor Bar and Goethe Park.

This does happen to Andy more than once a year.

Those fish seem to be more aggressive on minno/smolt patterns right now than they are caddis. At least the adult steelies!
