Default Half-Pounder Steelhead in the American

Does anybody know if the half pounders that are showing up in the American are considered a seperate run or or they part of the Fall run. Also, do they move all the way up to the hatchery or do they stay in the lower part of the river?

The Fall Run is primarily HP's but there are a few adults mixed into the bunch.

The Fall HP's are a little larger than the Spring's IMHO.

The Fall HP run is my favorite, great weather.

    Enjoy.

I think there are some Halpounders in the Lower American River almost year round now. Especially with this high water year we are having now.

Usually the Fall run is Sept/Oct in the AM and PM.

If we have low water the Spring run is March/April/May. This year the Spring run was not too good because we had high water.

I would go out real early now in the AM and swing a #10/12 caddis nymph on a floating line with a real long leader to 3x tippet.

    Anybody getting any Halfpounders?
