    Default American Shad

Fished the "A" today from 12:00 - 4:00. Hung 20 or so Shad and got 12 or so to hand. A few 18 - 20"es. Nice to see the river back down to a somewhat fishable level. A few Caddis coming off now and then but no activity on the surface. All fish came on a Fox Poopah Emerger or similar fly. Anybody fishing late and notice any 1/2 pounders sucking in any Caddis

This is what I'm looking for

Life is GOOD! The rivers are fishable again!!!!!!!!!

Hey Mike, were all your fish halfpounders today? I was out this morning for shad and used a caddis dropper just in case.......I got 3 out of 15 shad on the caddis the other night and this morning I had 12 shad and a squaw fish. None of them hit the caddis while I had it on today. I was fishing the upper area at Goethe. It wasn't exactly on fire there either time so I'm thinking of going to Upper Sunrise or Sailor Bar next.

I was so wrapped up in the steelhead pic that I transposed it into my reply. I meant "were all your fish shad?".

Isn't someone getting a little picky. Just kidding! Those half pounders are in there, they are just hidding. Its only a matter of time before you hook up on them again.

Mike, maybe you should tie up some Shag Carpet Caddis. Maybe the original patterns have caught too many fish?

Glad to hear that you and others are finally catching some shad.
