Default Steve Barnard gets nice Tarpon in Belize

My ROFF news group buddy Steve Banard had great fishing in Belize with local guide Julian Cabral out of Placencia. They hooked this fish inside the lagoon at Tarpon Cay on a Gummy Minnow.

    Default gummy minnow

Does anyone sell gummy minnows tied on 2/0 or 3/0 hooks? I'd like to take a couple to Belize this summer.

I have been looking at the Umpqua catolog and it looks like they come in 2, 6 and 8.

I will have to call them today.

A #2 will work for baby tarpon to 30 pounds according to Chico and Lefty.

I am sure they are going to make them bigger becuase this seem to be the 'year of the Gummy'.

BILL: With all due respect to Lefty and Chico, both of whom I admire greatly, I need a bigger hook(or at least I think I do). If you get your hands on some, please post a note. Or, if someone out there will tie some on, say, a TMC 600sp 3/0.

I talked with Bruce Olsen @ Umpqua today. They only make size #2, 6 and 8 on standard SS bonefish hooks.

Next season they will have them on larger 600SP hooks.
