Default Striper Fishing with Kevin Doran (Delta Adventures)

I just got back from a day on the Mokelumne River with Kevin Doran from Delta Adventures. The day started out with a forcast for rain, but thankfully it didn't rain, although the winds were pretty strong most the day. We got about a dozen Stripers throughout the day. The picture below is a 8 pounder that was about 28" long.
Kevin was awesome on this whole trip. This was my first time Striper fishing, and Kevin spent the first half hour just training me on how to fish for stripers. This was not an easy task since as most of you know, I only have just over a year fly fishing experience! I learned how to fish with sinking lines, had to learn the double-haul (high winds), and the techniques to fish for Stripers. Kevin did an awesome job of showing me how to do all of these and kept on me throughout the day to make sure I did it right! Thanks Kevin for all the help, I learned tons today!
Oh, all of the fish I caught were on flies that I tied myself too. Nothing like catching fish on your own flies!

If any of you have been interested in catching some stripers, I would give Kevin Doran at Delta Adventures my highest recommendation!

Great! Nice Striper Gregg. They put up a hell of a fight don't they. I love the grab from a striper.

Good job with catching those fish on your own flies, very cool.

Sinking lines, double hauling, striper fishing, all in the same day and an 8 pounder to boot. . . you are obviously a quick study! Sounds like you had a blast. Yep, catching 'em on your own flies just adds depth to the whole experience, doesn't it? Great job!!
