    Long before I started fly fishing , I used to tye Glo-bugs without a vise .... just holding the hook in-between my fingers (using Kevlar thread , by the way) .

    I tried doing that again around 6 years ago and think I like using a vise better . David

    I can't even comprehend tying a fly without a vise. I think I'd poke a million holes in my figers if I even tried!

    Ignorance is bliss ..... if you never had a vise , you wouldn't know the difference . After you do use one .... there's no going back . David

    I've been at it for about 16 years now. I remeber the first bug I tied and caught fish on, an olive cadis with black head and grizzly soft hackle. It used to really get the little guys on the American during the summer. Very simple and not too good looking, but it worked. Maybe I'll have to do some for this year.
