    Default Yuba River Insects

Saturday while fishing with MIke Bias I took some cool shots of some Yuba insects.

I enjoy taking pictures of the insects that we imitate with our flies.

    Very Fun

WOW, outstanding pictures Adam! I hope to see many more bug pictures in this section in the future. Especially appreciated you identifying what they are, thanks!!

    Hey Adam,

Any size reference for that caddis?? It's slightly smaller than the golden stone I see.

Very similar to what I've seen in the steelheads stomach in the fall in the American.

Jgoding, How do you know what was inside the steelheads stomachs

The free living caddis were roughly a size#12, large bugs, there were tons of those caddis in the Yuba river.

    Hey Adam,

Thanks for the reference. What.... you don't have X-ray vision?? Ha ha j/k. Last year I couldn't get this one little half pounder in fast enough and he wasn't looking too well by the time I got him in. Since it was a hatchery fish I figured what the heck.... and it wasn't too big either.... Tasted pretty good to say the least and it was good to see exactly what it was feeding on as well.... lots of caddis larvae.... green, and looked just like the one in your pictures.... well, if you put all the pieces together i guess....LOL But I am not against keeping about 1 fish a year.
