I also had a great time on the Lower Yuba also on February 7 with guide Mike Bias. Seemed like wherever he recommended that I put my indicator rig, there was a nice trout. Mike was a great guide. Thanks for recommending him Bill!

    Thanks David...

Yes I love this river..!! When I floated on the 9th, 6 came on the swing..!!

All about the size in the pic posted. As far as the Zonker, hook down and I purchased these. The only trick here is to trim the tails a tad. I can't
tell you how many tail nips I have felt swinging this pattern in my earlier trials.

If you can but or tie these in 2 shades of olive. Darker for the day and lighter for the shade or later in the day. Leader these flies on a slip knot or similar to give these wet flies more life in the current as you swing. Then hold on for the ride..!!

Zonkers are tied with lead in the belly and with the rabbit strip they they are a hook up fly. Also I use the smallest size #8 .I think I get less short strikes than the bigger flies.

    Take care Rob.

Ray and Rob , thanks for your input on the Zonkers !
Believe it or not , an Olive #6 Zonker has nailed a number of GOOD Stripers for me the past couple of years . All 4x long Mustad 80000 streamer hook point down . Haven't tyed them point up yet , but will try some soon .
    Thanks again , David
