Hello everyone,...... Let's explore a subject I'm very much interested in... Fly Tying Style; representational or impressionistic.

Something David has mentioned in his posts indicates his tying style is that of representationalist. I'm guessing he's a representationalist. (His flies must look like what they're supposed to represent)

My flies are whatever they need to be.... Sometimes they are an exact representation. I consider myself more of an impressionistic tyer. I believe that qualities such as silhouette, shape, size and color are more important than precise imitation IN CATCHING FISH. I make this latter restriction to allow for tyers who tie/display their wares....

I'd like to find out how/what other tyer's believe and use in this area.....
Let's get into this. All patterns and types (fresh/warm/saltwater) should be open to this one.
