    Default Smolt pattern

I developed this pattern last year but had very little time to fish it. I was inspired by the salmon smolt swimming in the American River. I tie it on an up-turned steelhead style hook to allow it to track straight and for the classy look. I palmer white blood quill marabou around medium white chennile then tie in olive marabou on the top. To simulate the parr marks I use a grizzly hackle on both sides. The head is epoxied over pearl tape eyes. Give it a try. It was a hit when I tied at the last International Sportsman Expo.

When this fly is wet it moves like it is actually alive.

    Default Smolt Pattern

Interesting pattern. With some color changes, it could be anything from a yellow perch to a chub. I'm gonna have to try this one at Pyramid Lake.

    Thanks for sharing
