Are clouds ever not good? Maybe if you are at the beach but it seems like clouds are always good for fishing. The fish are less spooky and more willing to venture into the shallows and bite. It also gets the bug hatches going and gets the trout to the surface for the dries. It is rare that clouds do not benefit your fishing. Maybe if you are trying to spot fish or if you need the water to warm up and get the fish active. I usually don't throw out fish counts in my posts but to support my clouds are good claim I will. It was cloudy this morning and the sun broke through about 11:00. I got 41 fish before the sun came out and 4 after the sun came out. The difference is not always that stark but today it was.
I did not take any fish pictures today because they would have looked about like the other bass pictures I have posted lately. I did catch a few bluegill which would have looked different. I probably should have taken a bluegill shot. He is a good-looking fish. I did get some bird pictures which have a little more variety than fish pictures.
The golden crowned sparrow. Not a super spectacular bird but a good bird on a nice post and really good light.
A tight shot of a California quail thinking about jumping off the edge and looking for a good landing spot. A good sharp photo taken from the boat.
Lewis's woodpecker. I found a nesting tree and sat down and got a few okay shots. They did not like me there but stayed around. I will have to try again maybe with some early morning light.
Geese are big, tough and mean and always ready to kick some ass. I don't want one coming after me.
Wood ducks are beautiful. They are not looking to kick some ass. I am not scared of them.
